Job Description for Sunday Morning Sanctuary Set Up
1. Arrive at the church at least 45 minutes before the first service starts.
2. Turn on the lights. Switches inside the panel behind the hymnal rack turn on the overhead lights. Switches to the right of the panel turn on the spotlights on the pulpit. Make sure the dimmer control above the panel is turned up.
3. Take the worship table cloth from storage cabinet in the back of the sanctuary and put it on the worship table.
4. Take the chalice from the storage cabinet and place it on the worship table. Fill the chalice flame bottle with 99 percent alcohol, which is also kept in the storage cabinet. Make sure to re-bury the bottle in the sand for safety.
5. Take the container for "Candles of Joy and Sorrow" from the storage cabinet and place it on the worship table. Set out several candles from the storage cabinet on the worship table. Light one candle using matches in the pulpit. Extra candles are in the supply closet near the church office.
7. Place hymnals from the hymnal rack on about every other chair.
8. Get the orders of service from the desk in the church office and place them in the rack on the side of the hymnal rack.
9. Turn on the sound system.
10. Set up the microphone for "Candles of Joy and Sorrow" and the pulpit microphone. Check with any musicians whether additional microphones are needed.
11. Take the assisted listening devices case (a gray rectangular case) from the storage cabinet and set it out near the hymnal rack.
12. Chairs should already be set up. However, it may be necessary to straighten a few. See the chart taped to the pulpit.
13. Put a glass of water in the pulpit.
14. Open outside doors and set up a fan if necessary.
15. Turn on the video screen in the Welcoming Room.
16. Straighten up the Welcoming Room, throwing away or recycling any papers or other garbage that has been left there.
17. Do a quick toilet paper check in the restrooms. Extra toilet paper is in the upper cabinet above the water heater in the men's restroom.
18. Make sure the doors to the sanctuary are open by 9:15 a.m.
