The Wisdom of the Middle Way–Online Worship via Zoom

Rev. Kristen Kuriga

In the month of March we are exploring the theme of wisdom. For Unitarian Universalists, where does wisdom reside? Who has wisdom? What is the difference between knowledge and wisdom? Together, we will explore the sources of our faith, as well as what we gain by going on the journey of spiritual exploration together. We’ll touch into the wisdom of the mind, body, intuition and the heart. Soul Matters describes the practice of wisdom as untangling ourselves from what we’ve been taught, and wedding insight with compassion.

We are moving our Sunday service to a virtual environment this week. This plan is our best wisdom at this time, given public health recommendations for King County, guidance from the Pacific Western UUA Region, and our care for the well-being of all in our beloved community. We invite you to join us from your homes instead of coming to the church this Sunday.

Many of you have used an online communication program for meetings already, called Zoom. We have decided to try this program for Sunday. In some ways, this experience will be similar to sitting in the pews and in some ways, a bit different.

If you would like some practice using Zoom prior to the worship service, you are invited to log in at 10:10 am to become more familiar with the features of the program.  If you are comfortable using Zoom, log in a few minutes before 10:30 am. This week is Daylight Savings, so don’t forget to spring ahead!

To access Zoom, go to https://saltwaterchurch.org/calendar/zoom-room/ and click on “To join a meeting—click here.” Or from the main church webpage, select Zoom Room from the drop down menu under “news and events” on the top menu bar. If this is your first time using Zoom, follow the prompts to download the application to your computer. It will be helpful if you have a high-speed internet connection.  For some connections, a pair of headphones will be helpful (a simple pair of earbuds will do.)

If you would prefer to join by phone, dial 1-669-900-6833 and enter Meeting ID: 736 142 4210 when prompted.  Long distance charges may apply, so it is best to call from a cell phone.

If you have a smartphone, you can download the Zoom app and join with Meeting ID: 736 142 4210 for video and audio connection.

We look forward to worshiping together on Sunday virtually!
