Story Time (ages 3-7)
Based on the Montessori method, and drawing on a “morning as worship” model, this class embraces self-directed learning and multiple learning styles. Through story, wondering, and creative response, children make meaning of the language of faith and life’s questions. This year’s lessons and activities will be linked to our monthly church-wide themes.
The children join their teachers on cushions in the circle area for wondering questions about the story heard in worship.
“We are Unitarian Universalists—
with minds that think,
hearts that love,
and hands that help.
(point to head on “minds”,
cover your heart on “hearts”,
and hold out your hands together on “hands”.)
Exploration Time: Children choose their work from the story baskets, art supplies, or other activities related to the theme.
Children work together to tidy the classroom space. We share a snack, and enjoy conversation together.
