On this first Sunday of Native American History month 2023, we welcome Jaya Garcia of United Indians of All Tribes to the Saltwater pulpit. Jaya is a direct descendant from the White Mountain Apache Tribe from Whiteriver Arizonia. She has been a Native American community member for her entire life beginning as a newborn in a cradle board sitting with her father at the drum. Today she is an active supporter of all Native and Alaskan Natives residing in and surrounding areas of what today we call Seattle Washington. NOTE: This service will include a brief smudging ceremony where herbs will be burned. We have air purifiers in the sanctuary, but those with significant respiratory difficulties or smoke allergies may wish to participate via Zoom.
