The Saltwater Board met and reviewed our COVID-19 Safety Guidelines on August 30, 2022. With the support of the Pandemic Task Force, these guidelines have been revised to allow more in-person connection, while also honoring our commitment to care for those who are more vulnerable to serious infection.

If you are sick, please stay home. If you have come into contact with someone positive for Covid, follow the precautions recommended by the CDC:

Covid-19 Guidelines for Indoors
Open for programing as of August 30, 2022

Large Group Gatherings

  1. People of all ages can meet indoors. Masking is required, and we recommend wearing a high-quality mask such as an N95 or KN95.
  2. There is reduced seating in the sanctuary with 3 ft space between rows. There is no longer a capacity limit for worship or programs. Social distancing is optional. Please respect the choice of those who continue to practice social distancing.
  3. In order to care for our collective well-being, we strongly recommend that anyone who is eligible to be vaccinated do so, especially before participating in indoor activities.
  4. There will be no food or drinks to ensure continuous mask wearing.
  5. Restrooms in the Welcome Room will be available for use. Access will be limited to no more than 4 people at a time.
  6. For persons under the age of 18, their parents/guardians must complete a form giving permission for them to participate in indoor church programming. Children & youth must also agree to follow all COVID-19 Safety Guidelines.
  7. The group leader will be responsible for ensuring high touch surfaces are wiped down after use, for example: light switches, door knobs, and bathroom sink handles. Cleaning supplies are available in the Janitor’s Closet in the Welcome Room. Also available in the Janitor’s Closet are extra disposable masks (both child and adult sizes), hand sanitizer, hand soap, and paper towels.
  8. Group leaders will do what is feasible to increase ventilation: open doors and windows when possible, turn on heating system, or put on air purifiers (available in Sanctuary, Office, and Lighthouse).
  9. Group leaders will deliver Sign-In sheets and permission forms to the Office Administrator.

Small Group Meetings

Small groups are asked to observe the guidelines identified for large groups with the following exception(s):

  1. Groups of adults, 12 people or fewer, can remove their masks during an indoor program if all members of the group consent.
  2. Adults are persons 18 years of age or older.

Message from our Board and Minister

We believe our approach to managing events during the pandemic reflects our commitment to welcome and care for those who are more vulnerable, including children, those who are immune-compromised, and those who are unable to be vaccinated. The Board is continuing to monitor the local Covid-19 transmission rates through Covid Act Now: They meet monthly to assess our local conditions to see when we are able to start multi-platform worship. We are keeping in mind guidance from both public health and the UUA: If you have any questions about our current guidelines, please contact Karin Leisy, Board President.

If you would like to create an event to foster connection, you can schedule that event with our Office Administrator by completing our online request form (click here). If you need support in planning or organizing an event, please contact a member of the Operation Leads Team: Rev. Kristen Kuriga, Susan Aigner, or Galen Guffy.
