Saltwater Climate Action Now! (SCAN!)…

began in 2015. We are dedicated to raising awareness about climate change among members of our church, to participating in direct actions to reduce carbon emissions, and to contributing to Saltwater outreach efforts by being visible as Unitarian Universalists and members of Saltwater at events we attend. We join with other churches and with environmental organizations to further our aims. We meet monthly on Zoom on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 6:30pm.

Here’s what one of our allies says about us.

“The Saltwater UU Climate Action Now team has been a consistent faith voice in dozens of important campaigns for protection of God’s Creation and Earth’s ecosystems in the Northwest.   They have turned out, spoken out, made comments at hearings and shared in the totem pole journeys for each of the successful campaigns to stop six coal export terminals in the region. Saltwater UU Climate Action Now has been supporters of Lummi , Quinault and Yakima Nations (among others) opposing oil export terminals on or near Native fishing sites, being part of the Stand Up To Oil campaign that has also won all of these battles.  They [have also worked] with the Puyallup Nation in Tacoma to oppose a huge methanol plant proposed for Commencement Bay.”
