Accessibility of Building and Programs
We welcome and affirm people of all abilities. We have taken the following steps to assure that no one is excluded for full participation in the life of our church.
Mobility
Our Sanctuary, Welcoming Room, Religious Education classrooms and Office Building are fully accessible to those using wheelchairs or having limited mobility. Staff and volunteers are also available if additional assistance is needed.
Sight
Large print hymnals are always available. Please ask any usher for assistance. During services lyrics are projected on our newly upgraded large screen projector to increase accessibility. Additionally, our exterior lighting is being upgraded to increase nighttime visibility. If you would like an orientation tour of the campus during the week, contact the church office to make arrangements.
Hearing
We offer live streaming closed captioning for all our Zoom events. Additionally we have assisted listening devices in the Sanctuary available to use during worship. During all church meetings and workshops, anyone wishing to speak from the audience is strongly encouraged to use the portable microphones so those who are hard of hearing are not excluded.
Other accommodations
We offer inviting spaces for our neurodivergent population. If you would enjoy being active during our services, supplies are available so you may color, knit, or fiddle with fidget toys. We also have ear cover for those who are easily overstimulated by live music. If you have suggestions for other accommodations, there is a suggestion box outside of our sanctuary. We are always open to new ideas.
If you want your child to participate in the religious education program and feel that they may require special accommodation due to learning disabilities or behavioral issues, please contact the Director of Faith Formation in advance so the best possible arrangements can be made.
Service Animals
We have grassy areas where service animals may relieve themselves. Please connect with a volunteer if you need any additional accommodations for your service animal during Sunday services and special events.
Safety & Security
Saltwater UU Church recently made some security improvements to ensure the safety of our visitors. Our enhancements include upgrading our security system, increasing our outdoor lighting, and building a relationship with our community groups and local emergency service agencies. If you would like additional information about our commitment to the safety of our community, please email the church office administrator at administrator@saltwaterchurch.org.
If you have any questions about our accessibility that have not been answered or concerns that have not addressed, please contact the church administrator.
