February: What does it mean to be a People of Beloved Community?
In the month of February, we are exploring what it means to be people of Beloved Community. People who open the door ever wider in welcome. A people who imagine and work for communities where poverty, racism, and oppression are eradicated. A people who recognize our interconnectedness: who show up for each other, learn from one another, and are guided by a powerful commitment to love. Soul Matters describe the practice of being a people of beloved community as the practice of bending the arc of the universe toward justice, recognizing inherent worth, and dismantling the structures that divide us. Come, join us as we deepen our faith together.

Communications at Saltwater UU Church
Did you know there are many ways that we communicate with one another at Saltwater Church? There is the weekly newsletter, a SUUC community listserve, and a Saltwater Facebook group.
All of our communications at church are governed by the church covenant and the electronic communications policy. You can find those policies here:
Saltwater Covenant: https://saltwaterchurch.org/about-us/our-governance/covenant-right-relations/
Electronic Communications: https://saltwaterchurch.org/stay-in-the-loop/saltwater-church-electronic-communication-policy/
It is so important in this time to stay connected in healthy ways. If you are having difficulty or are in conflict with someone in the community, our covenant encourages us to speak to that person directly. Calling on the phone or setting up a zoom call is best since emotional emails can be misunderstood and cause greater difficulty. If you need support, you can also reach out to the Healthy Congregation Team: Bev Ross, Quinn Rose, and Debra Valpey.

Federal Way Day Center
Donations Needed
The Federal Way Day Center
for unsheltered adults is providing important support to our local community
while practicing social distancing. Their remarkable record of providing safe
care has resulted in ZERO Covid cases. Those who were most vulnerable were
admitted to safe housing sites in Kent and SeaTac. Ten long-term Day Center
guests will be approved for Permanent Supported Housing at the soon to open
Thea Bowman Apartments in Kent.
Your help with the most needed items can go a
long way to maintaining that safety record: cup noodles, hand warmers,
rain ponchos, and trash bags. You can park in front of the Day Center and call
(253-893-7895) and someone will come out to pick up the
donations. 33505 13 Pl S behind the Multi-Service Center. Or
you may contact Lucia lfaithfull@comcast.net or
Diane ddobrowolski@earthlink.net to arrange for your donations to be picked up.

Weekend Writers’ Group
Mona Lee would like to start a Weekend Writers’ Group. Saltwater Church already has a great writers’ group where people can share their writing with others and receive helpful feedback. The current group meets every Wednesday morning for 3 ½ hours. Mona proposes that the Weekend Writers’ Group would meet only two times per month for two hours each. She hopes that this proposal will interest busy people and/or people who work weekdays. In order to start the group, Mona needs four additional members besides herself. If you are interested in joining the Weekend Writers’ Group, send an email to mona_lee@centurylink.net.
