We offer worship in two ways: in-person multi-platform service held in our sanctuary and online in our Church Zoom Room at 10:30 am. Doors and Zoom open at 10:15. To join the Church Zoom Room go to: saltwaterchurch.org/calendar/zoom-room/. You can find more information about how to connect through zoom towards the end of our Saltwater Church Newsletter. Our newsletter also provides ways to connect and live our values through in-person programming and via our Church Zoom Room.
Worship In July at Saltwater Church
In July our theme is Embracing Possibilities and the Worship Team is arranging for meaningful and fun opportunities in lieu of our regular services. For our in-person folks there will be Worshipful Workshops – informal, lay-led, participatory workshops centered on different spiritual practices. For our folks on-line, there will be facilitated Chalice Circles over zoom each week with discussion questions related to the theme of Embracing Possibilities.
Some things to note about these events:
- These workshops and chalice circles are replacing the regular worship services in July and will be at the regular time of 10:30 am on Sundays.
- This is not a permanent change in how we do worship – this is something we are trying out for the month of July.
- These will not be multi-platform services; the in-person and online events will be separate. This will allow staff and volunteers who have been working diligently to create the multiplatform experience an opportunity to rest, renew, and be ready to start up again in August!
We hope you will take this opportunity to embrace a new possibility by attending one or more of these different ways to worship. If you have any questions, reach out to one of the Worship Team members: Janeane Weprin, Meri Murphy, Joanne Stonebraker, and Janeira St. Clare.
Worshipful Workshop: 10:30 am, In-person at Saltwater Church
July 2: Collage as a Spiritual Practice led by Mayda Taney
Collaging is a process-oriented, creative, and often meditative experience. The practice is to be in the moment and trust your attraction to imagery without worry about the end product. It is about allowing yourself to open to beauty, be playful, and just let the collage happen. Please bring scissors.
July 9: Qigong led by Jean Spohn
Qigong, pronounced “chi gong,” was developed in China thousands of years ago as part of traditional Chinese medicine. For this workshop we will practice together Qigong, beautiful slow movements, mostly in place.
July 16: Forest Bathing & Labyrinth Walk led by Janeira St Clare & Suzanne Laurel
Join us for a chance to unwind, reflect, and rediscover spiritual harmony within the serenity of our beautiful Church grounds. We will engage in the ancient practice of forest-bathing, which is a meditative practice where we allow the sights, sounds, and scents of the woods to revitalize the body and spirit. We will then walk the sacred Labyrinth to foster inner peace, contemplation, and a deeper connection to Spirit.
July 23: Music and Movement as Embodied Spiritual Practice led by Tom Burt
Come sing and move together, connecting with our bodies, our spirits, and each other. No previous experience required! All bodies and abilities are welcome and wanted.
July 30: Yes! You Can Write! – led by the Wednesday Morning Writer’s Group
Join the Writers Group in a fun writing exercise. You will have the chance to write and to share your writing (only if you want to!) in a safe and friendly way. No experience required! This Worshipful Workshop will include inspirational readings and music to put us in a creative mood.
Chalice Circle: 10:30 am Online in the Church Zoom Room https://saltwaterchurch.org/calendar/zoom-room/
The format for our summer chalice circles is simple: a chalice lighting, check-in, and a reflection question on an aspect of the theme for July, embracing possibilities. In chalice circles we come to be nourished by authentic relationships, to listen and be listened to, to mutually support one another, and to create space for spiritual insight.
July 2: Facilitated by Rosalie Olds
July 9: Facilitated by Susan Aigner
July 16: Facilitated by Janeane Weprin
July 23: Facilitated by Miriam Woito
July 30: Facilitated by Rosalie Olds

From Our Leadership
Transitional Ministry Update
The Congregational Meeting on June 11 included an update on where we are in our transition. In every newsletter, we’ll give a weekly update on our progress.
Our goal is to contract with a minister who will lead services, provide pastoral care and manage administration. We’re listing the start date as August 1, 2023. Ministers usually have an August 1 start date, to give them adequate time to learn about the congregation, make connections and establish their systems and processes for the busy church year.
Last week, we completed and posted the “Congregational Record”. It was a big accomplishment, describing what we’re looking for and who we are. It’s kind of like posting a position on a job search website specifically for UU ministers.
Good progress! Now, we wait for ministers to indicate an interest.

Climate Message of the Week
More than 55 million people in the U.S. were under an extreme heat warning at the first of this week.
Be prepared for hot summer days. King County Public Health gives these recommendations for hot weather: Stay cool in air-conditioned buildings or cooling centers. Limit outdoor activities to the cooler parts of the day. Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water. Never leave people or pets in parked cars when it’s hot. Learn the signs of heat stroke or heat exhaustion, then watch for them in yourself and in others. Check on family, friends, and neighbors, especially if they are in a high-risk group.
Important: There will NOT be a SCAN! meeting in July.
Are there topics or questions you’d like to see covered in future Climate Messages? Email suggestions to Sheri Jacobson at firstname.lastname@example.org.
